ARCHIVES №4 presents an incredibly rare glimpse into the unseen, private snapshots of Au Courant Studio's founder, Lisa-Marie Harris, captured on the Caribbean Island of Grand Cayman over the course of many years. Quite unlike the tense sculptures and minimalist forms of Harris' art practice, ARCHIVES №4 reveals the deep endurance and achingly raw beauty of an island known beyond its shores for a constructed sense of luxury that often overshadows its true, natural riches. Think of it as an ode to the warmth and resilience of a place where the people weather the worst with ease, not unlike their modest wattle-and-daub wood houses that somehow survive the torrid hurricane seasons in a way that palatial villas can barely withstand.
The ARCHIVES series creates space for the Caribbean to be intimately documented with the sense of cultural familiarity and regional respect that is often missing from depictions of the islands generated from outside the diaspora. This first edition of ARCHIVES №4 is available in a numbered, limited-edition of 50 copies with international tracked shipping
